From Motivation to Discipline
You see every other person doing something about it now-a-days.
Health!
People are into all kinds of activities, be it running, cycling, gymming or yoga.
I too caught on the bandwagon a few months back when I joined a gym.
I am not the muscular type, and have never harboured dreams of 6 pack abs. I wanted to focus on strength training considering my increasing biological age!
I saw a statistic staring at my face as soon as I enrolled – nearly 80% of people never make it to the second month (the better gyms only offer a yearly pack!).
You know where most people falter?
They set wrong goals for the first 6 months.
Let me share my experience.
Everything is hunky dory the first month – new place, new crowd, and so on.
One does not need a goal to get through the first month.
The next 2 months are the most crucial.
What should be the goal? Let’s find out.
I went through this phase where the novelty of the first month had waned off and demotivation set in with no change seen in my body.
I was advised by one of my friends to simply have one goal over the next 2 months, i.e. to reach the gym every morning or at least 4 days a week.
Your WHY may not be enough in this phase, and one just needs to look out for a beautiful reason to be there 🙂
The next 3 months is about getting into a routine.
I was lucky to have found 2 good mentors in Dewan and Sumit (Dewan is the perfectionist trainer and Sumit is the perfect gym buddy who pushes you to stretch that wee bit extra..)
So, you actually get into a rhythm in the 3rd quarter. Yeah, there’s no short cut to success 🙂
Are you game?
I would love to know your fitness routine!!
