From “Why Not Me” to Gratefulness

From “Why Not Me” to Gratefulness

Grateful

Some Things Remain the Same

Last Friday, I was interacting with my friend Amitesh at a get together.

He mentioned a young JEE aspirant in his close family who had secured 99.9 percentile in the first attempt this January.

He recently met this boy and congratulated him but on the contrary found the boy disappointed to have lost a few crucial marks.

This was Friday and over the weekend I too could recount a couple of instances where I fell short in terms of achievements in my professional life.

Each time I posed the same question to God – Why not me?

I ended up feeling miserable instead of being grateful for what I had..

I came across a really different perspective yesterday (12th March).

I was at a famous eye clinic in Green Park Delhi with my son for his check up. As we waited for our turn, a patient came seated in the wheelchair.

There were 2 doctors in the room and we were waiting for our turn with the first doctor. They stepped in for the second doctor.

The lady pushing the chair had a rather grim look on her face.

She started narrating to the doctor – the person had nearly lost his vision. The lady said everything was fine till 10th Dec 2024 and there was a loss of vision starting 11th Dec.

They had undergone a couple of treatments at other facilities. The lady narrated everything with a brave face.

As I left the clinic, I promised to myself that I was never going to ask the question again – “Why not me”

I felt indebted to Shri Krishna for what I had.

Enjoy the festival of colors.

Have a great Holi
