No Plan B

No Plan B

I spent a couple of hours with my friend Sandeep this weekend.

Along the way, the conversation drifted to why people from a certain section of the society are increasingly more successful in sports.

Sandeep’s son Ayush completed his graduation two years back and has been playing cricket since middle school.

A promising fast bowler, he’s been practicing religiously to make it to the state Ranji team/ IPL.

Sandeep used to accompany Ayush once in a while for practice sessions till a few years back.

Sandeep mentioned about Ayush’s colleague who used to be his fast bowling partner and opened the bowling in matches from the other end.

This young lad came from a nearby small town and used to reach the cricket ground for practice every morning.

He skipped school many times and stayed on the ground with the coach. When he felt too tired, he simply lay down and slept in the shade of a tree.

He got up in the evening, then practiced again for a few hours till the daylight allowed him to..

Cricket was his life, there was absolutely nothing else.

On the other hand Ayush rarely skipped school as he was keen to perform well in academics as well.

Sandeep said that Ayush’s bowling partner had been picked by an IPL franchise for 1 cr+ this season.

He had finally arrived in the big league 🙂

The successful lads (predominantly) are the ones who are ready to try, try, and try again till they succeed.

They hardly have a Plan B..

Does this principle apply only to sports or to other areas of life as well?

What do you think?

Imagine the possibilities
